Rhodes’ remarkable season in front of goal has prompted interest from the highest level of English Football, with Fulham, Everton and Aston Villa all lurking with intent to try to lure the striker away from the Galpharm Stadium.
Manager Simon Grayson issued a statement during the course of the campaign stating that the club may sell the Scotsman, who won his first international cap earlier in the season, if the price is right.
Meanwhile, the former Leeds United boss has set the Yorkshire-based club the target of avoiding an immediate return to League One, as the Terriers embark on a first season in the Championship for 11 years.
“Our first aim for next year will be to survive when you are a promoted team first and foremost you need to focus on staying in that division,” he said.
Grayson points to the recent successes of Norwich City as an example of how a club can 'bypass' the Championship on route to the Premier League.
The Terriers boss believes his side have the foundations in place to not only survive but exceed all expectations.
He added: “That doesn't mean to say that we can't go on to have a very good season. We've got an ambitious chairman and we've seen teams go straight through the Championship in recent years.”
Gaining promotion could yet have further reward if Rhodes stays put. Persuading the striker to stay could well be Huddersfield's biggest fight of the summer as they try and divert attention away from their main asset.
